What the F*ck, of the Year..

Sat Apr 12, 2008, 7:06 PM
So I logged into Deviant and saw many journal posts about this possible chance that we, as artist might lose all our rights to our own work..

Orphan Works Legislation?!!!

"What makes me so MAD about this new legislation is that it legalizes THEFT! The only people who benefit from this are those who want to make use of our creative works without paying for them and large companies who will run the new private copyright registries."

"With the tens of millions of photos and pieces of artwork created each year, the bounty for forcing everyone to pay a registration fee would be enormous. We lose our rights and our creations, and someone else makes money at our expense.

This includes every sketch, painting, photo, sculpture, drawing, video, song and every other type of creative endeavor. All of it is at risk!

to me, it doesnt really matter, because if your art is good enough, it will be stolen, wether you want it or not. especially in russia and china. i've seen products on the russian market with artworks of famous artists which are like 100% used without permission, and theres nothing noone can do about it. if you dont want your art to be stolen, dont put it on the net, but then noone would know you exist.. otherwise create good art, and maybe if you're good enough, someone will remember your name by seeing a picture on some chocolate box with chinese writing on it...
at least thats what i think.

I agree with you, but on my impression in reading that article I found in other Deviant's journals was the confusion of possibly not being able to earn money through your own pieces if you sell it to whoever, or you'll first have to spent some big bucks in copyrighting your work, to prove that you own it, before being able to sell it, because then, you'll deduct how much from the actual pay? -- I don't know.. confusion-ness...

screw them all, if you do freelance on the internet, noone know about anything, no copyrights, no identity, nothing, no taxes, no shit. you get work done, you get remotely paid.. ohh a dream job hahaha.
